Bilstein B6 vs B8: which monotube fits your build

B6 for factory ride height, B8 for lowered cars on Eibach/H&R springs — and three things to know before you order either.

Bilstein's B-series numbering trips up a lot of first-time buyers. B6 is a direct-fit upgrade for factory ride height — same length as OE struts, valved firmer. B8 is shorter-bodied and meant to live with lowering springs in the 1-1.5" range; running B8s at stock height puts the strut into bind at full droop.

If you're on Eibach Pro-Kit or H&R Sport, B8 is the answer. Factory springs or just upgrading worn dampers — B6. The third option, B14 PSS, is a full coilover kit; different conversation.

Other things to know: B6 and B8 both ship with the factory-style top-hat (your existing mounts swap directly), and Bilstein's 25-year warranty applies to both. We've seen B6s last 150k+ miles on daily-driven cars.
